Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, and store operations. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager role for a limited period.

Responsibilities include assisting with recruitment, merchandising, inventory controls, and customer service leadership, with adherence to company procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers preferred for some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and audits.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies per handbook/SOPs.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds and cashier accountability.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
