Job summary

Dollar General Store is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking goods, and handling paperwork. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position and is for a limited period.

The candidate will participate in recruitment, merchandising, inventory controls, and adherence to company policies while supporting store operations and customer service leadership.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Performs calculations (addition, subtraction, percentages).
• Knows cash handling, cashier accountability, and deposit controls.
• Learns IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Understands inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Follows cash, safety, and security policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Facilitate store merchandising and proper pricing and signage.
• Support inventory management and shrink control processes.
• Help meet in-stock targets through ordering and stocking.
• Provide customer service leadership and store presence.
• Model company procedures and policies for staff.
• Participate in store opening/closing activities.
• Assist in cash handling, deposits, and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Support operations in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all required paperwork on time.
