Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory management, merchandising, and daily store operations. The role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager position while holding the role for a defined period.

You will assist in recruiting, merchandising, and inventory controls, ensuring cash handling accuracy and compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stock presentation according to established practices and store manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and preparing inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Assist in ensuring store compliance to federal labor laws and company policies.
• Review operating statements to identify business trends and opportunities.
