Job summary

Dollar General Store is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager with supervision, staffing, inventory management, stocking and receiving, and daily store needs. The role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The incumbent will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, cashier accountability, and store operations including opening/closing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment is preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and operate IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and conduct inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure cash controls and security procedures are followed.
• Maintain a clean, safe store and safe working environment.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
