Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, and managing inventory and merchandising. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager position and is limited in duration.

Candidate will assist with recruiting, training, and adherence to company policies while helping to ensure cash control and secure deposits. Travel to nearby stores may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including deposits and cashier accountability.
• Familiar with store procedures, safety and policy compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing practices.
• Assist in inventory management and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies as outlined in manuals.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure funds are deposited securely.
• Maintain cash control and security practices.
• Keep store clean, well-stocked and safe for customers and staff.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review sales and expense statements to spot trends and opportunities.
• Complete all required paperwork and deadlines.
