Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising employees, staffing, inventory control, stocking and receiving, and store operations. This temporary role develops external candidates for the Store Manager position and runs for a limited period.

Responsibilities include assisting with recruitment, merchandising, inventory management, and cash handling while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and perform basic math.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking according to established practices.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Participate in opening and closing activities and cash handling procedures.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
