Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, and handling inventory, stocking and receiving. This role is designed to foster progress toward a Store Manager position and is for a limited period.

The candidate will participate in recruiting, merchandising, inventory management, and customer service leadership, ensuring policy adherence and proper cash handling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions, including reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise and using fixtures and signage as directed.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork and controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies as outlined in the handbook and SOPs.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Assist in ensuring financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
