Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervised store operations, staffing, inventory, and merchandising. This role focuses on candidate development for the Store Manager position and is limited in duration.

The position involves assisting in recruiting, stocking, inventory controls, cash handling, and delivering excellent customer service. You will participate in opening/closing duties and uphold company policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret basic documents and procedures.
• Mathematical calculations for cash handling and invoicing.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Familiarity with IBM/POS cash register functions and reporting.
• Understanding of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of safety and cash security policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stock management.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns and reporting.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and model company policies.
• Participate in opening/closing store activities and cash handling.
• Maintain cash controls and security; ensure safe deposits.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
