Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in supervision, staffing, inventory management, stocking, and daily store operations. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

You will help with recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, cash handling, and ensuring a safe, well-stocked store environment while adhering to company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with safety, deposits, store keys, and security procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging, stocking, and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, and counting inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company policies and procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safekeeping of company funds and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
