Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager to lead daily store operations, staffing, training, and customer service. You will oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising, and performance management, ensuring compliance with policies and safety guidelines across shifts.

Responsibilities include maintaining inventory accuracy, controlling costs, and delivering strong financial performance while coaching staff to provide excellent customer experiences.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Knowledge of cash handling, store security, and loss prevention.
• Ability to recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff; ensure proper staffing and performance.
• Familiarity with retail operations, ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising, and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps for appropriate solutions and/or counseling, up to and including termination.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly; coordinate meetings and events to encourage safety, security and policies.
• Open and close the store; ensure coverage at least two times per week.
• Evaluate operating statements to identify business trends, expenses, and opportunities for shrink reduction.
• Manage inventory and fulfillment to meet in-stock targets; review ordering plans weekly.
• Facilitate staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise per company processes.
• Maintain merchandise presentation, pricing, and signage; ensure accurate inventory and security practices.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and maintain a safe, clean store environment.
