Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to lead all store operations in a fast-paced retail environment. You will recruit and develop talent, manage scheduling, inventory, pricing and visual presentation while ensuring policy compliance.

Drive sales and customer service, oversee opening/closing duties, and uphold safety and financial integrity across daily operations. Ideal candidates have strong leadership, cash handling and inventory skills, with at least a year of retail management

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, rules, and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Experience with IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Understanding of cash, facility and safety control policies.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees and ensure proper staffing.
• Provide training, conduct performance evaluations and address gaps.
• Make recommendations on pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance and safety expectations; coordinate meetings.
• Ensure store is staffed and opened/closed each day.
• Personally open and close the store at least twice weekly.
• Evaluate operating statements for trends, expense control, and shrink.
• Manage ordering to meet in-stock targets; review weekly plans.
• Facilitate staging, stocking and storage of merchandise per processes.
• Ensure merchandise presentation, pricing and signage are up to standard.
• Maintain accurate inventory, control damages and markdowns.
• Protect financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash control.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Maintain a clean, safe, well-organized store environment.
• Ensure store has necessary tools and complies with SOPs and paperwork deadlines.
