Job summary

Books-A-Million, including the 2nd & Charles brand, seeks an Assistant General Manager to lead the store alongside the General Manager and drive sales, customer experience, and employee development. You will coach Associates, manage duties on the sales floor, buy counter, and in daily operations, ensuring a welcoming, profitable store environment.

You will mentor a team, maintain standards, and execute store strategy while prioritizing community engagement and associate growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience is required.
• Strong customer service and merchandising skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the store alongside the General Manager and drive exceptional customer experience.
• Partner with the management team to set expectations, create momentum, and ensure the team delivers best performance.
• Build a capable team, train Associates, and develop future store leaders to strengthen performance and accountability.
• Run daily operations with clear communication, open briefings, and efficient scheduling to meet business goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
