Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in daily operations, staffing, and inventory management. This role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager track and will be for a limited period.

You will assist with recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, and customer service leadership while adhering to company policies and procedures. The position involves store opening/closing and ensuring cash controls are in place.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of retail experience preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with safety and cash control policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising, staging, stocking and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in inventory management and preparing inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Operate store in absence of manager.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
