Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support store processes, supervise employees, manage inventory, stock and receive merchandise, and handle administrative duties. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager track and is limited in duration.

The candidate will assist with recruiting, merchandising, inventory accuracy, cash handling, and compliance while maintaining a safe, well-organized store environment and contributing to financial performance.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Perform basic math calculations including percentages.
• Know cash handling, cashier accountability and deposits.
• Learn IBM cash register functions and report generation.
• Understand inventory management and merchandising.
• Know cash, equipment and safety control policies.
• Recruit, interview, hire, counsel and terminate with compliance.
• Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrate interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Resolve problems with limited standardization; adapt as needed.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging, pricing, and fixtures.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, scanning and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds in the bank.
• Maintain financial integrity with cashier accountability and cash controls.
• Keep store clean, well-stocked, and safe for customers and employees.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
