Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, stocking, inventory, paperwork, and daily store needs. This role also fosters external candidate development for the Store Manager position and is limited to a defined period.

Key responsibilities include recruiting support, merchandising, inventory control, cash handling, and ensuring a safe, well‑stocked store environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams and procedures.
• Mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls.
• Familiarity with cash register operations and reporting.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Awareness of cash, facility and safety policies.
• Familiar with recruiting, interviewing and internal processes.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Good organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems in varied situations.

Responsibilities

• Assists in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assists with store merchandising and stock presentation per standards.
• Supports inventory management and stock reporting.
• Follows ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provides customer service leadership.
• Follows company procedures and policies.
• Participates in store opening and closing.
• Ensures safekeeping of company funds and cash controls.
• Maintains clean, safe, well-stocked stores.
• Operates store in manager's absence.
• Reviews store performance and identifies trends and opportunities.
• Completes paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
