Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, and paperwork. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager track and is held for a limited period.

The position involves assisting in recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, cash handling, and daily store operations including opening/closing and bank deposits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and perform basic math calculations.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management, merchandising practices, and safety policies.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at certain locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by facilitating staging, stocking and pricing.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following store policies and procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds.
• Maintain cashier accountability and security practices.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
