Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in daily operations, supervision, staffing, inventory, stocking and receiving, and compliance with company policies. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The incumbent assists in merchandising, cash handling, opening/closing duties, and maintaining a safe, well-stocked store while ensuring customer service excellence and adherence to procedures.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets documents and procedures.
• Performs basic math calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls.
• Learn IBM cash register functions and reporting.
• Familiar with inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, safety and store security policies.
• Experience in recruiting, interviewing and hiring processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal and collaborative abilities.
• Organized with attention to detail and problem solving.
• Some locations prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging, signing and pricing.
• Assist in inventory management and related paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Adhere to company procedures and policies.
• Participate in opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safekeeping of company funds and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, safe, well-stocked stores.
• Assist in store operations in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all required paperwork and documentation.
