Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, and handling store processes. This role supports development of an external candidate for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The role involves recruiting, merchandising, in-store customer service leadership, opening/closing duties, cash controls, and ensuring compliance with company policies. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns and stock levels.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds and cashier accountability.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
