Job summary

Dollar General seeks an Assistant Store Manager to maintain a clean, organized store with a customer-first focus. You will assist the Store Manager with supervising employees, merchandise presentation, deposits, and loss prevention while protecting assets and driving profitability.

Key duties include leading customer service, opening/closing, scheduling, training, inventory accuracy, planograms, cashier accountability, and store operations in the manager's absence, all within company policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling policies and practices, including deposit control.
• Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow work processes to manage merchandise, including receiving, stocking, and displays.
• Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and controls.
• Assist in implementing planograms and ensure merchandise is presented as directed.
• Assist in ensuring financial integrity through cashier accountability, deposits, cash control procedures; sign for refunds and overrides.
• Assist with management of the store in the Store Manager's absence.
