Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. Under the Store Manager, you will supervise staff, help manage merchandise presentation, deposits, and paperwork while protecting assets and reducing losses.

You will open/close the store several days, train employees, schedule, handle stock, planograms, cash control, and assist in store leadership during the Manager's absence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform cash-handling procedures and deposits.
• Ability to operate cash register and scanner.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers and operate POS.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling and training employees.
• Manage merchandise flow: receiving, stocking, displays and markdowns.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and control damages and losses.
• Implement and maintain planograms according to directions.
• Ensure cash handling integrity and deposits; cash control procedures.
• Assist in store management in Store Manager's absence.
