Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in a retail setting to support the Store Manager in daily operations. The role emphasizes customer service leadership, accurate cash handling, and maintaining store presentation and inventory.

The position requires coordinating schedules, training staff, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. You may also participate in deposits and periodic store audits as part of safeguarding assets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to perform cash handling and deposits with accuracy and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize purchases.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise receiving, unpacking, stocking, restocking and rotating merchandise; build displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, scans, and paperwork.
• Assist with planograms and ensure merchandise is presented per standards.
• Support financial integrity through cash control, deposits, and refunds/overrides.
• Assist in store management in Store Manager's absence.
