Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help maintain a clean, customer-first store and supervise employees under Store Manager direction. You will handle merchandise presentation, deposits, and cashier functions to maximize profitability and satisfaction.

The role includes scheduling staff, training, safety meetings, and ensuring compliance with policies, while supporting daily store operations and loss prevention. Presence in a fast-paced retail environment is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers, and operate the cash register and scanner to itemize purchases.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow work processes to manage merchandise: receiving, unpacking, stocking, restocking, and building displays.
• Assist in maintaining inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Assist in planogram implementation to ensure proper presentation according to Store Manager direction.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability, deposits, and cash control procedures; sign refunds/overrides and count tills.
• Assist with store coverage in the Store Manager's absence.
