Job summary

Safeway is seeking a dependable Person In Charge to manage Front End operations in the absence of store leadership. You will ensure friendly service, supervise cashiers, and safeguard profits while delivering a high standard of customer care.

As PIC, you may oversee multiple departments, resolve issues, and uphold company policies. The role combines leadership, cashier duties, and daily store operations to maximize efficiency and service quality.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering friendly, courteous service.
• Ability to follow company procedures and policies.
• Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary customer contact and maintain service standards.
• Handle emergencies, complaints, and supervise store personnel in PIC absence.
• Stay familiar with policies and monitor store service levels.
• Supervise sales floor and replenish displays near checkout.
• Restock stock and keep a clean, safe work environment.
• Assist cashiers with register issues and basic office tasks.
• Operate the cash register, total customer transactions, and give correct change.
• Assist customers with bagging and carrying groceries when needed.
• May perform close-of-day tasks and stock counts.
• Perform other duties as assigned by store leadership.
