Job summary

Dollar General seeks an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations in a fast-paced retail environment. You will supervise staff, oversee merchandise presentation, and manage deposits and cash controls under the Store Manager's direction.

You will also assist with scheduling, training, inventory control, and adherence to security policies to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. This role requires reliable leadership and hands-on problem solving in a busy store setting.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication abilities.
• Ability to solve problems and handle diverse situations.
• Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math and cashiering tasks.
• Knowledge of cash handling, deposits and security procedures.
• Willingness to drive to the bank for deposits.
• Retail supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service leadership and operate POS systems.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise flow: receiving, stocking, and displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and control damages and markdowns.
• Implement and maintain planograms and product presentation.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability and deposits.
• Assist with store operations in the Store Manager’s absence.
