Job summary

Books-A-Million seeks a General Manager to oversee day-to-day store operations as a Manager On Duty in collaboration with the management team. You will drive sales, lead staff, manage budgets, and ensure exceptional customer service and accountability.

You will direct store activities, train and coach the management team, and maintain security and community relations. This role requires dedication, adaptability, and strong leadership in a retail environment.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent; business degree preferred.
• Previous management experience.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to supervise a large number of associates.
• Background screenings required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Lead store operations to maximize sales and customer service.
• Ensure store adheres to company policies and procedures.
• Maintain store security and act as a key-holder.
• Plan, organize and direct store activities with other managers.
• Provide excellent customer service and resolve complaints.
• Recruit, train and develop store staff.
• Communicate effectively with associates via daily briefings and meetings.
• Create schedules to cover all store needs.
• Build community relations and partnerships.
• Handle cash deposits and banking as needed.
• Coordinate store activities including product flow and merchandising.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
