Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health seeks a Specialty Pharmacy Technician I to support sterile compounding for IV admixtures and other sterile products. You will maintain aseptic techniques, manage inventory, document activities, and collaborate with pharmacists and nurses to ensure timely medication delivery.

The role requires a Pharmacy Technician License or related certification, with expectations to obtain certification within 180 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of hospital or similar experience.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and USP standards.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance.
• Attention to detail and maintaining a sterile environment.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proficiency with EPIC and pharmacy software.
• Familiarity with brand/generic medications.

Responsibilities

• Sterile compounding for IV admixtures and other sterile products following protocols.
• Maintain aseptic techniques throughout the compounding process.
• Conduct routine cleaning, testing, and monitoring of equipment and cleanrooms.
• Manage and monitor inventory of sterile drugs and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of compounding activities and quality control.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses and healthcare professionals to meet patient needs.
• Adhere to safety protocols, PPE use, and waste disposal.
• Prepare parenteral mixtures and load/unload medications into ADC with barcode scanning.
• Support drug inventory rotation and restocking in dispensing areas.
• Answer phones and direct calls to proper personnel.
• Fill controlled substance orders and reconcile discrepancies daily.
• Maintain paperwork and records for medications prepared for administration.
