Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health seeks a Specialty Pharmacy Technician II to prepare sterile medications with strict adherence to USP <797> and <800> standards. You will work closely with pharmacists to ensure patient safety and accurate compounding in a hospital setting.

The role requires experience with sterile compounding, hazardous drug handling, and EPIC software, along with strong attention to detail and teamwork. Training for hazardous drug compounding is provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years sterile compounding experience.
• Minimum of 2 years hospital or similar experience.
• Minimum of 6 months of hazardous compounding experience.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, USP <797> and <800> standards.
• Experience with CTSD devices and tubing for complex chemotherapy products.
• Proficiency with EPIC software.

Responsibilities

• Sterile compounding of medications including IV admixtures following USP <797> and <800> standards.
• Maintain aseptic techniques throughout the process.
• Quality assurance: monitor equipment, cleanrooms, and hoods for compliance.
• Inventory management of sterile drugs and supplies.
• Document batch records and QC documentation.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and staff to meet patient needs.
• Adhere to safety protocols for hazardous drugs and PPE.
• Stay current with industry guidelines and training.
• Prepare parenteral mixtures including large/small volume and infusion products.
• Load/unload medications into ADC with barcode scanning.
• Support drug inventory rotation and restocking processes.
• Answer phones and direct calls as needed.
• Fill controlled substance orders and reconcile discrepancies.
• Ensure paperwork and regulatory documentation are complete.
