Job summary

The Cross Island YMCA in Queens, part of the YMCA of Greater New York, seeks an Activity Specialist to deliver engaging STEM enrichment in the Y Afterschool program. This part-time role focuses on safe, supportive learning for school-age children and aims to develop foundational STEM skills.

You will design project-based lessons, assess progress, and collaborate with staff to create inclusive activities that foster critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in science, technology, engineering, or math preferred.
• Experience working with children under 13 is required.
• Basic computer skills (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) desired.

Responsibilities

• Design a comprehensive STEM curriculum with lesson plans and measurable goals.
• Lead and facilitate daily STEM activities.
• Ensure health, safety, and proper supervision of participants.
• Collaborate with staff to document and assess participant progress.
