Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York is seeking an Activity Specialist in the La Central YMCA Afterschool program. You will prepare and deliver age-appropriate STEM instruction for school-aged children, focusing on project-based, hands-on learning across coding, robotics, and science topics.

The role emphasizes creating a safe, inclusive environment, supporting teamwork and critical thinking, and aligning with YMCA values and safety standards. This is a part-time, regular position at the Bronx location.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years' experience in science/STEM or related field preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; work well with youth.

Responsibilities

• Design a STEM curriculum with detailed lesson plans and measurable goals.
• Lead daily STEM activities creating safe, inclusive learning environments.
• Coordinate materials, safety, and logistics for activities and events.
• Support documentation and communication with caregivers and staff.
