Job summary

Triple-S Steel Supply is seeking a Material Handler to safely move and load steel Across storage, production areas, and delivery routes. You will operate forklifts and overhead cranes, perform load configurations, and ensure accurate handling while following safety procedures.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and willingness to work outdoors in various conditions. Training, benefits, and development opportunities are provided by the company.

Qualifications

• Read work orders or instructions to determine work assignments or material/equipment needs.
• Ability to safely meet or exceed minimum productivity levels.
• Ability to plan and organize work activities independently or in a team.
• Develop working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures.
• Maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations.
• Demonstrate basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• May be required to demonstrate strong customer relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe methods of work and immediately report unsafe conditions.
• Safely move steel to/from storage, production areas, docks, or vehicles using hand, forklift, or overhead crane.
• Lift up to 50 pounds for up to 25 feet and exert 25–50 pounds of force frequently.
• Attach slings and tie down/release loads for transport.
• Configure load based on route and multiple stops.
• Maximize load capacity on trailer without compromising safety.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (e.g., measuring tools, pallet trucks, forklift, crane).
• Report safety issues pertaining to equipment promptly.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Maintain spatial awareness to navigate busy work environments.
• Judge distances to monitor other activities and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
