Job summary

Triple-S Steel Supply is seeking a motivated Material Handler to join our Houston team. This role focuses on safely moving steel, loading and unloading, and supporting daily production goals while adhering to quality and safety standards.

You will operate equipment such as forklifts and cranes, inspect loads, and assist with routine maintenance. The position requires physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine material and equipment needs.
• Ability to safely plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision.
• Ability to maintain knowledge of product and inventory control techniques.
• Good inter-department communication related to routing, safety and customer relations.
• Demonstrate basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Responsibilities

• Safely move steel from storage to production areas using forklift or manual methods.
• Attach slings, hooks, or devices to lift materials and guide loads.
• Configure load based on route and maximize trailer capacity.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment such as tape measure, caliper, forklifts, and PPE.
• Report safety issues related to equipment promptly.
