Job summary

Triple-S Steel Supply is seeking a Material Handler to read and execute work orders, move steel within storage and production areas, and ensure customer requirements are met in a timely manner.

The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, working with forklifts and overhead cranes, and adhering to safety procedures in all weather conditions. It involves coordinating with multiple departments to maintain smooth material flow.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret work orders to determine material and equipment needs.
• Develop basic product and inventory knowledge to support operations.
• Plan and organize work activities with or without supervision.
• Build knowledge of inventory control techniques and procedures.
• Maintain communication across departments regarding routing, safety, and customer relations.
• Demonstrate basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Responsibilities

• Follow safe methods of work at all times and report unsafe conditions.
• Move steel to/from storage or production areas using manual handling, forklift, or crane.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds for distances as required.
• Apply proper bundling techniques.
• Configure load based on route with multiple stops.
• Maximize load capacity on trailers without compromising safety.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (tape measure, caliper, micrometer, forklift, overhead crane).
• Identify safety issues related to equipment and report promptly.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Maintain spatial awareness around moving objects and people.
• Attend required company meetings.
• Other duties may be assigned.
