Job summary

Baker Tilly Advisory Group, LP is seeking a State & Local Tax Senior Manager with a consulting focus to join our SALT practice in the United States. The role targets experienced professionals with income/franchise and sales/use tax knowledge, ideally located near a Baker Tilly office.

The candidate will lead tax engagements for middle market and Fortune 500 clients, supervise staff, manage cross-state reviews and drive technical excellence while delivering value and ensuring client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• 4 year degree required.
• CPA, Law License or CMI required; Masters preferred.
• Eight+ years of state and local tax experience; consulting or professional services preferred; 2+ years of supervisory experience.
• Eligibility to work in the U.S., without sponsorship.
• Ability to lead, manage staff, and deliver exceptional client service.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic state and local tax compliance and consulting services to middle market and Fortune 500 clients.
• Manage multi-disciplinary, multi-state reviews of income, franchise, sales and use, and other taxes to optimize filing options.
• Research nexus determinations, taxability analyses and quantify potential liabilities.
• Counsel clients on state and local tax controversies including audits and notices.
• Plan and execute tax projects with wide scope; including due diligence and voluntary disclosures.
• Prepare technical memoranda on state and local tax issues for various entities.
• Maintain active client communication and suggest business/process improvements.
• Lead a staff group on engagements; oversee staffing, billings, and profitability targets.
