Job summary

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is seeking a Fleet Supervisor to lead statewide fleet operations, ensuring safe, reliable vehicles and equipment. The role covers maintenance, purchasing, budgeting, and compliance while driving efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

You will manage a team, coordinate with diverse groups, and advance fleet safety, training, and data management across Minnesota. A strong background in fleet management and certifications is expected.

Qualifications

• Six years of progressively responsible fleet experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of general fleet experience.
• Experience with fleet management databases and related tools.
• Experience operating, maintaining, or supervising a wide range of road vehicles (Classes 1–8) or off-road equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, coordinate projects, solve problems, and build partnerships with diverse groups.
• Ability to motivate and guide staff, provide training, resolve conflicts, and foster cooperation.
• Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations affecting fleet operations, including OSHA and purchasing.
• Ability to obtain a professional fleet certification within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee road vehicles, off-road equipment, trailers, and attachments.
• Supervise the purchase and disposal of fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Oversee CDLs, CMVs, accidents, insurance, and fleet training.
• Oversee fuel management and ensure maintenance and repairs.
• Administer fleet rates, financial analysis, and budgeting activities.
• Oversee fleet databases, account records, and billing.
