Staffing Coordinator – Skilled Nursing & Long-Term Care
We are seeking an experienced, organized, and dependable Staffing Coordinator to join our skilled nursing and long-term care team. The Staffing Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring appropriate nursing coverage across the facility and maintaining consistent, reliable staffing for our residents.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicates well with staff and leadership, and is comfortable working in the fast-paced environment of a skilled nursing facility.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain daily and ongoing nursing staff schedules, including CNAs, LPNs, and RNs.
- Ensure appropriate staffing coverage for all shifts based on facility needs and required staffing levels.
- Manage call-outs, schedule changes, open shifts, PTO requests, and last-minute coverage needs.
- Communicate regularly with nursing leadership regarding staffing levels, shortages, and coverage concerns.
- Contact available employees to fill open shifts and proactively address upcoming scheduling gaps.
- Coordinate agency staffing when necessary while working to minimize unnecessary agency utilization and overtime.
- Maintain accurate employee availability and scheduling information.
- Track attendance, call-outs, lateness, and other staffing-related issues and communicate concerns to appropriate leadership.
- Assist with onboarding new nursing staff into the schedule and ensure scheduling information is communicated clearly.
- Maintain accurate staffing and scheduling records and reports.
- Work closely with the Director of Nursing, nursing supervisors, HR, payroll, and other facility leadership.
- Help identify staffing trends and opportunities to improve coverage, consistency, and employee retention.
- Respond professionally and efficiently to staffing issues as they arise.
Qualifications
- Previous staffing or scheduling experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care facility, healthcare setting, or similar environment strongly preferred.
- Experience scheduling CNAs, LPNs, and RNs is highly preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to problem-solve and make quick decisions when coverage issues arise.
- Comfortable managing frequent schedule changes and competing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Familiarity with healthcare scheduling or time and attendance software is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively with nursing leadership and facility staff.
