Job summary

Commonwealth Care of Roanoke is seeking a Staffing Coordinator to organize and optimize nursing schedules, ensuring safe staffing and regulatory compliance at our Manassas area facility. You will work closely with nursing leadership and staffing agencies to fill shifts and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in healthcare administration or business preferred.
  • Prior scheduling or staffing experience in healthcare, long-term care, skilled nursing, or hospital setting preferred.
  • Experience with staffing, scheduling, or payroll software is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update daily, weekly, and monthly nursing schedules.
  • Ensure staffing levels meet facility census, acuity, state and federal regulations, and company standards.
  • Fill open shifts by communicating with employees, PRN staff, and approved staffing agencies.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing (DON) and Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) on staffing needs.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping, attendance, and “as-worked” schedules per payroll requirements and regulations.
  • Monitor attendance, call-offs, overtime, and schedule changes; communicate concerns to nursing leadership.
  • Maintain current staffing records and complete all required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate with external staffing agencies as directed by DON/ADON to ensure coverage.
  • Assist with scheduling orientation shifts for new hires and updating availability.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident, employee, and facility information (HIPAA compliance).
  • Provide exceptional customer service with employees, leadership, residents, families, and agency personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing or ADON.

The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and maintaining nursing schedules to ensure safe, appropriate staffing levels that support quality resident care and regulatory compliance. This role works closely with the Director of Nursing (DON), Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), nursing leadership, and staffing agencies to fill open shifts, monitor attendance, and maintain accurate staffing records. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Essential Responsibilities
