Job summary

CesiumAstro in Austin, TX is seeking a Staff Communications Systems Engineer to lead system engineering for space communications payloads and phased arrays on satellites and aerospace platforms. You will act as the technical point of contact for architecture concepts, requirements development, CONOPS, risk assessment, and cross‑team coordination with engineering, program management, and manufacturing.

8+ years of space RF/antenna experience and strong communication skills are required, along

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of space-based communications payload experience.
• Practical experience with antenna and RF systems.
• Experience collaborating with product/component developers and vendors.
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
• Proficiency with a requirements management tool such as DOORS or Jama.
• Ability to define work direction, track milestones, and show progress on large open-ended projects.
• Sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities for complex technical challenges.
• Ability to work well with multifunctional teams.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer and operational needs to define requirements, integrate parameters, and assure compatibility of all interfaces.
• Collaborate with the program management team to support project scheduling and coordination.
• Partner with program management to be the primary outward-facing team with external customers for technical baseline discussions.
• Act as the liaison between program management, engineering, and manufacturing ensuring effective communications.
• Participate in the development of system engineering processes for requirements management, flow down, and traceability.
• Perform risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies.
• Identify and resolve issues that may impede the progress of engineering teams.
• Foster a culture of efficiency and continuous improvement within our programs.
