Job summary

CesiumAstro in the United States is seeking a Staff Communication Systems Engineer to lead system engineering activities for space-based communication payloads, antennas, and RF subsystems. You will serve as the technical point of contact across programs and coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and external partners.

The role requires a Bachelor's in electrical engineering, 8+ years of space payload experience, strong communication, and proficiency with DOORS or Jama.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience with emphasis on space-based communication payloads.
• Practical experience with antenna and RF systems.
• Experience working with product/component developers and vendors providing critical functionality.
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
• Proficiency with a requirements management tool such as DOORS or Jama.
• Ability to define work direction, track milestones, and show progress on large open-ended projects.
• Sense of urgency, ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work well with multifunctional teams.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer and operational needs to define requirements and ensure interface compatibility.
• Collaborate with program management to support scheduling and coordination.
• Serve as the primary outward-facing technical liaison with external customers for baseline discussions.
• Coordinate across program management, engineering, and manufacturing to ensure effective communications.
• Develop system engineering processes for requirements management, flow-down, and traceability.
• Perform risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies.
• Identify and resolve issues impeding engineering progress.
• Foster efficiency and continuous improvement within programs.
