CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Communication Systems Engineer in a dynamic, startup-style environment. The role focuses on developing space architecture concepts, sub-system and payload design, requirements development, and high-level system integration for satellite communications.

Ideal candidates have strong space-tech background, leadership in cross-disciplinary teams, and proven ability to drive complex programs to success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience with emphasis on space-based communication payloads.
• Experience with antenna and RF systems.
• Proficiency with a requirements management tool (DOORS or Jama).
• Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define requirements by evaluating customer needs and ensuring interfaces are compatible.
• Collaborate with program management for scheduling and coordination.
• Serve as primary outward-facing technical liaison with external customers.
• Coordinate across program management, engineering, and manufacturing.
• Develop system engineering processes for requirements management and traceability.
• Perform risk analysis and mitigation planning.
• Identify and resolve issues impacting engineering progress.
• Foster efficiency and continuous improvement within programs.
