Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Communication Systems Engineer to lead system engineering activities for space-based communication payloads and phased arrays for satellites.

The role requires space technology background, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to act as technical POC across programs, delivering robust architectures and risk mitigations in a startup-like environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with space-based communication payloads.
• Background in antenna and RF systems.
• Experience with scripting and programming languages.
• Experience collaborating with product/component developers and vendors.
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
• Proficiency with requirements management tools (DOORS or Jama).
• Ability to define work direction, track milestones, and progress on large projects.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer and operational needs to define requirements and ensure interface compatibility.
• Support verification planning and test execution.
• Develop system engineering processes for requirements management, flow down, and traceability.
• Perform risk analysis and mitigation planning.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting engineering progress.
• Promote efficiency and continuous improvement across programs.
