Job summary

Rula is a remote-first healthtech company seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Partnerships Referrals & Conversions team. You will build scalable referral management, partner data handling, and patient booking experiences, shaping durable systems and delivering high-value features for partner networks.

You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers, mentor peers, and raise the technical bar. Expect use of Claude Code to boost velocity while balancing risk and judgment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of related professional experience.
• Deep understanding of modern application design architecture, good API design patterns, security, performance, and scaling.
• Experience designing and evolving system architectures with the ability to weigh tradeoffs and choose a suitable approach.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects across teams, shaping scope, estimates, and execution while aligning technical decisions with business goals.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with partners and stakeholders
• Fluent with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, etc.) and able to articulate both where they accelerate delivery and where they introduce risk or require human judgment.

Responsibilities

• Shape direction by designing durable systems and delivering software that impacts referrals and patient experiences.
• Lead complex technical projects across teams, aligning decisions with business goals.
• Mentor engineers, unblock peers, and raise the technical bar across Rula.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver the right solution quickly.
• Evaluate AI-assisted tools to accelerate delivery while managing risk and human judgment needs.
