Job summary

General Motors seeks a software engineering leader to modernize and scale build systems for software-defined vehicles. You will drive Bazel migration, set platform standards, and lead cross-functional teams to improve speed, reliability, and reproducibility.

The role demands 15+ years in software development, expertise in real-time architectures, and hands-on leadership across embedded software projects. Remote work is supported with periodic on-site collaboration as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or equivalent experience.
10+ years of software development experience with real-time systems.
Experience shipping safety-critical automotive software.
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Python and at least one additional engineering tooling language.

Responsibilities

Lead modernization of the build system using Bazel across embedded software.
Design reusable Bazel rules and toolchains for cross-platform builds.
Collaborate with CI/CD, testing, and deployment teams to improve parity and reproducibility.
Coach and mentor engineers while driving high-impact architectural changes.
Define migration strategy and rollout model for legacy Make-based workflows.
