Job summary
General Motors seeks a software engineering leader to modernize and scale the build systems for software-defined vehicles. You will drive the migration from legacy Make to Bazel, building scalable, reproducible infrastructure across repositories, toolchains, CI/CD, testing, and release processes.
You will guide teams, design reusable Bazel components, and integrate with enterprise workflows while ensuring safety-critical, high-quality production software.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of software development experience.
- Deep understanding of software architecture for real-time systems.
- Experience shipping safety-critical products.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with AI-assisted developer productivity tools and workflows.
Responsibilities
- Lead modernization of embedded-build and test systems, migrating to Bazel.
- Design reusable Bazel rules, toolchains, and platform configurations.
- Integrate Bazel with enterprise CI/CD, testing, release, and security workflows.
- Define phased Bazel migration strategy with parity and reproducibility.
- Drive productivity improvements and measure success via optimized builds and reduced flaky tests.
