General Motors is seeking a software engineering leader to modernize and scale build systems for software-defined vehicles. You will drive a Bazel migration, influence direction across teams, and establish platform goals while maintaining safety-critical standards.

We expect deep experience in real-time architectures, embedded software, and AI-enabled developer productivity. This remote role offers collaboration across multiple U.S.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree in software engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of software development experience.
• Deep understanding of real-time software architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead productivity and improve processes, coach teams, and deliver value through innovation.
• Modernize build/test systems by migrating Make/shell workflows to Bazel.
• Define migration strategy and rollout model for embedded software.
• Design reusable Bazel rules, toolchains, and platforms for parity and reproducibility.
• Integrate Bazel with enterprise CI/CD and security workflows.
