Job summary

Affirm is building its own bank and seeks a Staff Software Engineer to be a technical anchor for a small, AI-native team. You will set the architecture, standards, and technical strategy across banking infrastructure, data platforms, and integration with third-party providers.

You'll own the hardest problems, drive end-to-end delivery, and shape how the bank operates as a real chartered entity with senior leadership exposure.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction across the bank's systems and core surfaces, including cloud infra, data, CI/CD, networking, and vendor integration.
• Own the hardest problems end-to-end, designing, building, integrating and operating high-stakes components with clear failure domains.
• Be the force multiplier on a small team, leading code reviews, design reviews and examiner-ready documentation.
• Ship AI-first capabilities, leveraging AI tools and workflows to reduce headcount while raising delivery quality.
