Job summary

Databricks in Mountain View, CA, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for Customer Experience Intelligence to architect and deliver the AI-native vertical workflow platform. You will design the Agentic Ecosystem, orchestrate AI agents and humans, and build end-to-end workflows across enterprise tools.

You will lead backend engineering, ensure reliability and safety, and collaborate with CXI, Product, Platform Engineering, and business teams to align roadmaps.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• Extensive backend development experience designing, building, and maintaining high-throughput production systems.
• Proven success deploying enterprise-grade backend infrastructure, microservices, and robust APIs in complex environments.
• Deep familiarity with distributed systems, data platforms, and handling large-scale traffic.
• Hands-on experience with ML-assisted backend systems, LLM orchestration frameworks, state machines, or agentic automation.
• Strong understanding of multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) alongside enterprise compliance and security.

Responsibilities

• Architect the Agentic Ecosystem and contribute to the technical vision and backend architecture.
• Scale across multiple domains, building a modular, multi-tenant agent platform.
• Engineer reliability with high-quality, safe, scalable backend systems.
• Orchestrate complex workflows from human-in-the-loop to full automation.
• Implement enterprise-grade observability, tracing, logging, and rollback.
• Cross-functional leadership between CXI, Product, Platform Engineering, and stakeholders.
• Raise the bar for backend code quality, performance, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and SMEs across teams.
