Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Sr. Backend Software Engineer for Customer Experience Intelligence (CXI) to architect and deliver an AI-native, vertical workflow platform.

You will build an enterprise-grade backend that orchestrates AI agents, humans, and tools into end-to-end workflows within a multi-domain, multi-cloud environment. The role requires leadership across CXI and Platform Engineering, delivering scalable, reliable systems with robust observability.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Computer Science or related field.
• Extensive backend development experience building high-throughput systems.
• Proven success deploying enterprise-grade backend infrastructure and APIs.
• Deep familiarity with distributed systems and data platforms.
• Hands-on experience with ML-assisted backends and automation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of multi-cloud environments and security constraints.

Responsibilities

• Architect the Agentic Ecosystem and core backend architecture.
• Scale a modular, multi-tenant platform across domains and workflows.
• Drive reliable backend development with quality and throughput standards.
• Design state-machine and agentic workflows from human-in-the-loop to automation.
• Implement observability, logging, and safe-rollback for AI decisions.
• Serve as technical liaison across CXI, Product, and Platform Eng.
• Maintain high engineering bar for code quality and performance.
• Mentor engineers and SMEs across teams.
