Job summary

ModMed is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape the technical direction of its core platforms. You will drive architecture, set engineering standards, and mentor engineers while remaining hands-on for critical paths and reviews, balancing strategic leadership with coding activity.

You will design scalable healthcare applications using Java, Spring, and AWS, leading cross-functional efforts and collaborating with product leaders to deliver high-impact solutions.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years in Senior/Lead/Staff roles.
• Deep expertise in Java (8/11/17+), memory management and concurrency.
• Expert in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security.
• Extensive AWS experience (ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS/SNS, RDS, DynamoDB).
• Proven distributed systems architecture and API design experience.
• Strong SQL and NoSQL proficiency; familiar with data modeling.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Git and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect healthcare applications using Java and AWS.
• Mentor Senior and Mid-level engineers through code reviews and design discussions.
• Drive architectural decisions and set engineering standards across squads.
• Own reliability, observability, and performance of production systems (CI/CD, monitoring).
• Translate complex technical concepts into business value for stakeholders.
