ModMed in Boca Raton, FL is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to anchor our engineering org. You will drive architectural decisions, set standards, and lead the technical direction of core platforms.

This IC role expects hands-on coding ~40-50% and mentoring for senior engineers while partnering with Product leadership. You'll design scalable healthcare apps on Java/Spring Boot and AWS, shape DevOps practices, and build AI training harnesses to safely deploy domain-specific AI models across

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years in Senior/Lead/Staff roles.
• Deep Java (8/11/17+) expertise.
• AWS cloud-native design and distributed systems experience.
• Proficient in SQL/NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Technical Strategy & Architecture: Design and architect healthcare application using Java (Spring Boot) and AWS.
• Hands-on Engineering: 40-50% coding, critical path code, POCs, and PR reviews.
• Tech Leadership: Enforce coding standards and lead architecture reviews.
• Mentorship: Elevate the team’s technical bar through reviews and pairing.
• Operational Excellence: Own reliability, observability, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Translate tech concepts to business value with Product.
• Architect AI Training & Execution Harnesses: Build scalable AI model harnesses and eval pipelines.
• AI Skills: Define structured tooling and APIs for AI-enabled tasks.
