Job summary

Thunderbird Technologies Corporation seeks a Staff Software Engineer, Services, to shape the architecture and technical direction of web-based products that extend Thunderbird beyond email. You will own complex projects, mentor engineers, and drive scalable patterns across distributed teams.

You will collaborate with designers, engineers, and community members to deliver prototypes, evaluate technologies, and grow user and subscriber bases while ensuring robust, privacy-respecting offerings.

Qualifications

10+ years of web software development experience.
Expert-level JavaScript and another language (Python, Rust, Go, or C++).
Experience designing scalable systems and launching complex web projects at scale.
Front-end frameworks, full-stack development, and/or API development.
Strong practices in testing, code review, and documentation.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical architecture of new Services products.
Write code, build prototypes and experiments across the full development lifecycle.
Establish software patterns and make cross-team technical decisions.
Build analytics and infrastructure to inform product decisions using user data.
Mentor engineers, collaborate with Mozilla and community contributors.
